Avenal Animal Shelter volunteers fundraising to build a play area for their canine friends | Local News

Volunteers at the Avenal Animal Shelter have started a fundraising campaign to assemble a new gated play area for animals with the hope of expanding adoptions.

“Our canines are suffering from so much kennel pressure, when people occur in to adopt a new canine they are not looking at a playful animal, instead they witness an animal in distress and that can actually scare some men and women,” said volunteer Madison Coker, 25, an organizer of the campaign.

In accordance to Coker, it’s much easier to introduce canine at the shelter to likely adopters and other canines in an outdoors ecosystem, once they have been distressed from the kennel. The shelter now has no way of letting possible adopters to deliver in their pet dogs to take a look at for compatibility.

Land for gated play area

The proposed gated task would increase this spot to 75 toes and would consist of more compact subsections for introductions.
